Speck was a Montana old-timer who worked for the Great Northern Railway and met Russell in the early 1890s.


 

Richard O. “Dick” Jones

“To have known Charley [sic] Russell was to love him ‘and I knew him’”—Richard O. Jones, Dec. 18th, 1932, Los Angeles, Cal

 Jones worked at the Como Company in Great Falls, where Russell brought his art supplies and had his paintings framed. In 1931, Jones and his wife Peggy moved to California and created the Dick Jones Picture Company, which became a leading supplier of Russell prints.
