Native American Arts gallery on 3rd floor of the North Building. Marie Watt's tower of blankets, Blanket Story: Confluence, Heirloom, and Tenth Mountain Division, will be one of the first objects in our collection to have additional interpretive content provided through our new kiosk system.
In-Gallery Kiosk
The Denver Art Museum has used iPads running custom-developed software for years to provide interpretive material to visitors that goes well beyond the usual tombstone labels. Content on these kiosks has included zoomable images, videos and extended interpretive text.
We are currently embarking on a redesign of our in-gallery kiosks, with an eye to providing our interpretive specialists greater flexibility in content management and presentation. While the new system will continue to support display on iPads for those areas where the smaller form factor still makes sense, we are also expanding the system to function on larger touchscreen displays. We hope to make our interpretive content more user-friendly and more inviting than ever before, giving every visitor the opportunity to take a deeper look at our collections and exhibitions.
This demonstration setup includes some content we are currently prepping for deployment in our galleries. This is only a small sample of what our system will eventually be used for throughout the museum.
